Welcome to pax.net.

This is my personal page — a small place on the web for a few interests, occasional projects, and correspondence.

I spend my time exploring a mix of old machines, living things, and modern technology, with a particular appreciation for things that are thoughtfully made and quietly enduring.

Interests

Typewriters

I like typewriters for the same reason I like many well-made things: they make their workings visible. They reward touch, rhythm, and attention, and they turn writing into a more deliberate act.

Forth Programming

Forth interests me because it is compact, direct, and unusually revealing. I admire systems that can do a great deal with very little, and Forth has a kind of elegance that rewards patience and understanding.

Gardening

Gardening appeals to the patient side of me. It is part observation, part stewardship, and part experiment, and I enjoy the gradual satisfaction of helping living things grow and thrive.

Photography

Photography gives me a reason to look more closely at the world. I especially enjoy photographing flowers, insects, wildlife, and the small details that are easy to overlook, as well as candid moments when people are simply being themselves.

Technology

I am interested in technology not as spectacle, but as a practical and creative medium. I appreciate tools and systems that are thoughtfully designed, intelligible, and genuinely useful in everyday life.
